Find Your Path in Public Service

More details to come.

The Mid-America Regioncl Council is partnering with local jurisdictions and other community stakeholders to host the region's first-ever virtual Public Service Youth Career Expo. The goal of the event is to educate students from metro-area high schools and middle schools about promising career paths in public service.

The expo will highlight high-demand and rewarding jobs in key sectors of public service, including law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire safety, parks and recreation, health and human services, public works, courts and legal services, human services, information technology, community development and public administration.

Goals

  • INSPIRE THE FUTURE WORKFORCE – The goal of the career expo was to motivate young people to pursue careers in public service and other high-demand jobs. The event also helped students understand the importance of education and learn the skills they need to be successful in the workplace.

  • GROW OUR COMMUNITY – School participation in events like the 2019 expo help our region build a pipeline of talented young adults dedicated to successfully leading our communities toward an even brighter future.

  • OFFER UNIQUE LEARNING OPPORTUNITES – Supporting the expo also helps schools' ongoing efforts to provide in-depth, experiential learning opportunities for today's young adults and better prepare students for life after graduation.
